Hello, I'm trying to install Alfresco on a WHM/cPanel powered by CentOS 6 but I can't find any instructions on how to do it. Also, my cloud server does not naturally have Tomcat or JVM. I believe by installing Alfresco you install those items as well correct? Also, I'm trying to install the application on a linux OS

Alfresco 5.1 EA AOS - cannot browse library

Hi,

I have just installed the 5.1 201512 EA distribution on a Linux NAS with Share Solr and AOS and configured SSL on tomcat. It all seems to be working fine with no errors in catalina.out and normal access via Share in the browser.

When I connect from my office for iPad via AOS I can establish the connection but I cannot browse the document library. Would you you have any pointers to what might cause the problem/what to look for?

Thanks a lot
Peter

Bulk Importer - Versions with Different File Types

$

I am writing a utility to pull documents and metadata from my current document management system and to save them to properly formatted files for bulk import into Alfresco. I have run into a problem.

Several of my documents have multiple versions, some of which are different file types than the final (head) document. For example, many of my documents have earlier versions which are ODT or DOC files, but the final (head) document is a PDF.

How do I setup/name the files for import? I could name them all with the final (head) extension, but that would make opening earlier versions difficult at best.

TIA

Any issues running Alfresco Enterprise 4.0.2.44 on Ubuntu Server 14.04 LTS?

We've been running Alfresco Enterprise 4.0.2 (currently 4.0.2.44) for some years on Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS - is anyone running this version of Alfresco on the newer Ubuntu 14.04 LTS? Are there any issues with migrating?

Just looking ahead to when support for Ubuntu 12.04 runs out...

(Just for info, we are not planning to upgrade to a newer Alfresco because a) we have a variety of customisations that might not trivially port to a later version, and b) this part of the system is due to be replaced, so we don't want to invest a load of time on it!).

Hello,

We are trying to deploy Alfresco Community edition 5.0a on JBoss Application Server 7.1.1. Can someone please let us know what is the correct way to deploy the Alfresco's war files, taken from the location "/alfresco-community-5.0.a/web-server" on to the JBoss.

System details are as follows:
OS: Ubuntu 14.04
Java: OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.6.3) (7u91-2.6.3-0ubuntu0.14.04.1)

We tried keeping the WAR files (wix. alfresco.war and share.war) under deployments folder in JBOss (/jboss_as/jboss-as-7.1.1.Final/standalone/deployments) and started the server. We got below messages:

Finally we installed Alfresco Share on a separate Tomcat 7 instance and now Alfresco Share also working fine.
If anyone is looking for Alfresco 5.0.2 + Tomcat 8, please look at the Alfresco supported platform document once, as of now, it is not supported.

Publicly Addressable Name

Hi,

I just installed Alfresco (201510-EA) and after installing it works fine on the Linux server I installed on but I cannot hit it from any other machine on the network. This is in the install document:

Use the URL http://127.0.0.1:8080/share on this machine to verify that Alfresco is running successfully. This is not an externally addressable URL, which means that it's not possible for users on other machines to access this URL. To make sure that other users can access the machine where Alfresco is installed, you need to define and create a publicly addressable name.

How do you define and created a publicly addressable name? I am a seasoned MS IT guy but completely new to Alfresco and Linux/Tomcat/Postgresql. I went down the road of a firewall being installed but I can ping back and forth by ip and name. I'm eager to learn but I don't know if I'm banging my head against Alfresco, Tomcat, or just Linux in general.

Thanks

installing Alfresco 5.1

Hi,

I wanted to test the new version 5.1. (alfresco-community-installer-201512-EA-linux-x64.bin) on Ubuntu because I was interested in the new feature virtual folders.

But when I try to install I get:
./alfresco-community-installer-201512-EA-linux-x64.bin --mode text
Some or all of the libraries needed to support LibreOffice were not found on your system: fontconfig libSM libICE libXrender libXextlibcups libGLU
You are strongly advised to stop this installation and install the libraries.

I already installed these packages before (Because I installed Alfresco 5.0d before and the installation was without problems):

Alfresco:~$ sudo apt-get install libice6 libsm6 libxt6 libxrender1 libfontconfig1 libcups2
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
libice6 is already the newest version.
libsm6 is already the newest version.
libxt6 is already the newest version.
libcups2 is already the newest version.
libfontconfig1 is already the newest version.
libxrender1 is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 3 not upgraded.

So what packages do I have exactly to install?

Thanks in Advance

We already have an application running on Weblogic. Is there are way to install the community edition 5.0.d as a jar file and incorporated it into our application? Our application already runs on port 7001 on weblogic, how would alfresco run on the same weblogic server? I'm lost and pointing me to the right direction would help.

Assistance with configuring Alfresco 5.0d via AWS

Hi guys,

I would like to request some assistance with configuring Alfresco on AWS. I have launched an Alfresco Community Bitnami AMI, and attempted to set up the security groups and all that. However, once the instance launched and I attempted to browse the application by using the public IP I assigned, I get an error:

Your application is not available

Your application may not be available for many reasons:
•If you just launched the server, please wait a few minutes for the application to deploy. It is common behavior for Java applications.
•Your application may not be working properly. Please check the application log file.
This page will automatically refresh every 15 seconds until the application is available.

Would someone be able to provide some insight as to what could be missing from this?

Alfresco opening same Lucene file over and over and never closing it.

$

I recently upgraded the company website from 3.3g to 4.2f. We were having an issue getting search results beyond 1000 and it looked like upgrading would solve it. The good news is that we can query beyond 1000 and can delete the archived files all at once. The bad news is that the number of open files keeps increasing minute by minute, the vast majority of which are the same Lucene file:
java 27701 root 256r REG 8,1 17133704 2165528 /opt/alfresco-4.2.f/alf_data/lucene-indexes/workspace/SpacesStore/1e50ad66-f781-4886-9bbc-b8d288e604aa/_0.cfs

I was getting a "too many open files" error shortly after install. I bumped the system setting up to over 10,000 and it worked for 3-4 days. This time it gave me no error, it just became unresponsive.

Any help figuring out what to look at would be greatly appreciated. My JSON strings also seem to get encoded twice somehow after the upgrade; either that or forward slashes started getting escaped and are not decoded later.

I only see two other issues going on: Head and Broken pipe. Neither seem to have much affect on things.

Head error:
ERROR: org.springframework.extensions.webscripts.AbstractRuntime - Exception from executeScript - redirecting to status template error: 00280428 Script url /rss does not support the method HEAD org.springframework.extensions.webscripts.WebScriptException: 00280428 Script url /rss does not support the method HEAD

Broken pipe:

Search results: Escaped forward slash issue since upgrade from 3.3 to 4.2.f

$

The results of Lucene searches have been a problem since we upgraded. Everything works fine except for the fact that every forward slash has been escaped (gets returned with a backslash in front of it). This happens for every field. When I look in Alfresco Explorer the backslashes are not there. I've tried to look for places in the code where JSON objects are created or encoding or decoding happens, but I'm just not finding any obvious issues.

Where should I be looking?
Is there something in 4.2.f encodes forward slashes, but didn't in 3.3? New JSON version?

Smart Folders Tutorial Does Not Work

$

I have followed the instructions from here: http://docs.alfresco.com/5.1/tasks/sf-tutorial-cmm.html

I'm having issues with being able to progress in this tutorial. I've gone over the tutorial about 3 times now always starting over when I hit a roadblock and something is suppose to work, but it doesn't.

Issue 1:

Step 4 says to to put the json file into a folder called "Smart Folder Templates" however, there is no folder and I have to create it. Whether this is correct or not I don't know.
Source: http://docs.alfresco.com/5.1/tasks/sf-tutorial-configure.html

Issue 2:
After following these instructions...http://docs.alfresco.com/5.1/tasks/sf-tutorial-create.html

I can not see any smart folders created.

Issue 3:

Source: http://docs.alfresco.com/5.1/tasks/sf-tutorial-add.html

Step 2 says to drag and drop a image file into the "Assessment" folder, but there is none. Again I have to create this folder and then the sub-folder "Images".

It is at this point that I stop the tutorial and don't go any further because I don't seem to be able to see the smart folders at all. When they should be there. Any advice or help would be appreciated.
